And now a look at todays headlines... Sep. 18th, 2007 @ 12:51 am
This is why I can't take the American news media seriously. From CNN:

"Crocs, kids, escalators could be dangerous mix"

atlanta bound Aug. 31st, 2007 @ 01:06 pm
Annie, JJ, Ellen and I are on our way to atlanta. Currently we're about 45 miles outside of Greenville, SC. JJ and Ellen seem to be coping alright with the stuff in the backseat, even though my New Rocks keep attacking them. I hipe everyone else headed for D*con is having a good trip.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Annie and I made it safely to the Caymans. Highlight of the day for me was sitting on the beach smoking a Cuban cigar with my Dad.

Wolfmother Mar. 14th, 2007 @ 11:01 am
Anyone want to go to the Wolfmother concert at the Carolina Disco on April 24th? Tickets are $25 and I and at least one of my friends from work are going so you know the cool kids will be there.

» A funny thing happened on the way to work...
So, I was stopped on Glenwood Ave waiting to make a left onto Blue Ridge when I heard some squeeling brakes. I thought "Man, I wonder who's going to get into an accident?" *whump* "Oh! I'm going to!".

And that's the only interesting bit about the story at all. I called 911 to get an officer to come do the accident report, called work, called annie, pulled in to the Shell station, talked to the other person (a couple of very nice women), sat in my car listening to ESPN radio, talked ot the officer, went to work.

Car looks fine but I'm going to have the alignment checked anyway. Other persons car broke a headlight and bent the front hood.

That is all.

So, since this is the second set I'm answering I'll put it behind a cut.

1) How did you and Annie meet?

Annie and I met when she joined fencing way back in the Fall of 1996. Annie was a freshman and I was a returning from my first long internship. I knew right away that I wanted to date her but I was already in a long distance relationship and didn't want to break up over the phone with her cause that seemed like an uncool thing to do. As it turned out, Annie had a little bit of a crush on me too, something I didn't find out till years later. However, she ended up dating a different guy in the fencing club named Jim, then another guy I knew named Eric. Both of those relationship were in the 6-9 month range. Funnily enough, Annie broke up with Eric and I broke up with my girlfriend on the same day. We didn't coordinate it or anything. Annie had decided that she didn't want to be in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship and I realized that the girl I was dating was never going to be a lifetime thing and cut it off. I was hoping that this would clear the way for Annie and I, but she went on to date a series of other guys that weren't me. As it turned out, it really was for the best that Annie and I didn't get together till '98. If we had started dating when we first met the relationship would never have lasted.

2) Every prop builder has a "...if I only had the time and the money..." prop. Which one is yours?

That's easy. I'd build the Delorian from "Back to the Future" (complete with Mr. Fusion!). Obviously, I can't make it fly (yet) or travel in time (as evidenced by the fact that I don't have one) but I would want it to be functional in every other important way. For me, the cool thing about building a prop is showing it off. A functional vehicle prop would be the ultimate.

Alternately, the complete line of weapons from Firefly and Serenity.

3) What would it take to get you join a Justice League costume group at Dragon*Con?

People telling me that even if I'm a bit chubby, I can still dress up like Nightwing. I'm looking at starting creation of the mask in a week or two and if that works out to my satisfaction I'll try and relearn to sew to make the costume after that. It's an outfit I'm pretty confident that I can create. My concern is that I'll look exactly like what I am: A pudgy geek in tights.

4) So. What's the house like?

The house is awesome. We're only about 5-10 minutes from Nick/Allison and Leah/Will. The neighborhood is great. Everyone around us is really sweet, we have a neighborhood black cat named Boo that we all take care of and things are peaceful. If I want to go anywhere to eat or drink or whatever, nothing is very far. There's a really nice backyard for the dogs and a deck for cooking out. Also, I can do whatever the hell I want in here and not have to worry about what the landlord says. I love the house.

5) As you get more adult, do you find yourself bringing your childish things closer? Or pushing them away?

Certain areas I've been pulling closer and others I've been pushing away. It really depends. "Dungeons and Dragons" almost made me dizzy with happiness. Seeing things like TMNT and Transformers coming to the movies in a re-envisioned form makes me really excited and really wary. I've found myself searching out and reading old books I loved as a kid or books that are similiar. Games, too. Old RPGs (Palladium TMNT, the old Marvel RPG) and computer games from when I was a kid I love. I think that's one of the reasons I like my PSP is because of all the new versions of old games you can get for it. On the other hand, I'm trying to not collect to many toys because of all the space they take up. I've found I get some toy that was from my childhood (a veritech, for example), open it up, put on the decals, play with it and then put it up. I don't really have anywhere to display them and so things tend to be forgotten about.
